Talent_2014_Bronze.jpg_975124477 (1)International recognition for the Bayer Academy: The innovative concept for the further development of managers at Bayer has been awarded the Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award in Bronze 2014 in the category "Best Leadership Development Program". The prize has been awarded every year for the last 20 years by the Brandon Hall Group, one of the leading analysts in training and continuing education worldwide. The jury was particularly convinced by our clear focus on the LIFE values during the design and implementation of the Bayer Academy.

Founded in early 2013, the Bayer Academy offers managers worldwide a structured training program and supports them to systematically develop their leadership and general management skills. The Academy's goal is to prepare managers as well as possible for new and complex challenges. The offerings include a mixture of training courses and workshops on leadership and management tasks at Bayer, tailored to each of the participants. The course contents are derived directly from the company's strategy and objectives.

The Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award, which was initiated in 1994, is regarded as a prestigious award in continuing education. A committee of independent and experienced experts from industry and the Brandon Hall Group chose this year's winner out of over 100 entries from more than 20 countries. The judging was based on the following criteria: whether the program fit the organization’s need; design of the program; functionality; usability; innovation; and overall measureable benefits.

Science students regard Bayer as the most attractive employer in the pharmaceuticals industry. Across all sectors, Bayer came second – just behind the Max Planck Society. The Group thus improved its ranking by one place compared to last year, leaving competitors such as Merck, Roche and Novartis behind it.

Universum produces its prestigious "ideal employer" ranking annually on behalf of German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche. The consulting company is a market leader in employer branding and has over 25 years’ experience in this field.

Working-mothers (1) Bayer Corporation has again been recognized by Working Mother magazine as one of the nation’s 100 best companies for working mothers. Bayer is ranked number 15 on the list, up 32 spots from 2012. This is the tenth time in the past 11 years the company has been recognized on the annual list.

All companies were measured and evaluated on eight areas of work/life criteria, including women’s issues and advancement, child care, company culture, flexible work arrangements, benefits, workforce profile, parental paid time off and leaves and other work/life programs.

Over the years, Bayer has implemented a number of work-life programs to better fulfill the needs of employees. The Working Mother recognition follows a long line of national and local accolades Bayer has received, including the Catalyst Award, a prestigious award given to companies implementing new and creative solutions for ensuring women’s advancement in the workplace of the 21st Century.

The Leverkusen-based Group came in among the top twenty of the renowned ranking list "The Scientist’s Best Places to Work in Industry". This list acknowledges top companies following creative paths to achieve scientific progress.

The ranking list is considered a key indicator for the most innovative research companies worldwide and is based on an annual survey of the scientific journal "The Scientist". In this survey, more than 2,018 scientists evaluate their working conditions according to a set of 43 criteria in the areas of research environment, management, integrity, communications, job satisfaction, training and development, remuneration and benefits, as well as policies and practices.

ADInstruments ranks at the top of the list. Bayer comes in twenty.

Top-workplace (1)Bayer in the U.S. has been named by WorkplaceDynamics as one of its National Top Workplaces. Bayer became eligible for this national recognition due to its top performance in the 2011 regional WorkplaceDynamics survey conducted by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In its inaugural year the National Top Workplaces list is based solely on employee feedback from 805 companies surveyed with over 1,000 employees across 30 leading publishing partners to identify the best employers in the nation. More than half a million employees from around the country participated in the survey process.

Our Contribution to Society

Sustainability and social responsibility have always been key topics in our efforts to adapt to a changing world. To contribute to society’s future viability, we make investments in the areas of science and education, health, social needs, and community projects. This commitment is an integral element of Bayer’s corporate policy. Some of our ongoing activities include:

  • The Bayer Early Excellence in Science Award, presented annually to talented young scientists in the early stages of their academic careers;
  • A collaboration with the Chinese government aimed at promoting advanced training for physicians in rural, medically underserved areas of western China;
  • A fund to encourage recreational, disabled, and competitive sports activities in Germany.

Disaster aid is another area of activity for our social needs foundation. As an example, in the wake of the 2012 earthquake in Sichuan province, China, Bayer responded to the emergency with an extensive aid program. The Bayer Cares Foundation launched several projects to rebuild the community, including an initiative to restore a devastated college campus in the city of Dujiangyan.

Our global mission: promoting our employees’ health

04_SocialProtection_295.jpg_1658048898 (2).jpgAs a responsible employer, our mission also includes safeguarding and promoting our employees’ health. We offer wide-ranging benefits to promote the health of our employees in all the countries in which we operate, including medical checkups, on-site medical services, sports and exercise programs both inside and outside the company, and reintegration assistance after recovery from long-term illness. This is one significant way in which we support long-term employability, which is increasingly important as people around the world retire later due to demographic change.
